DONE!!! And Friday Fives:)

Y'all, I am D-O-N-E with my first year of nursing school! I had my last final today and tonight it's out with my girls to celebrate!! (And then tomorrow it's sleeping in 'til noon, because I deserve it!)

PS- I'm sitting outside watching Marley play in his puppy pool. But he's not alone. He's playing with a stranded fly who just happened to land in the pool with him. If I liked flies I'd think it was sad that Marley keeps dunking him underwater with his paw, but I don't like flies.

OKAY. So on to Friday Fives! This week's fives are your favorite movies! So here goes:

. A League of Their Own- a movie about the very first all american baseball league. Gena Davis and Tom Hanks star in it. I could literally quote this whole movie to you, it's that good. If you haven't seen it, you should.

2. Pride and Prejudice- the one with Keira Knightly...I don't know what it is about this movie, it's not action-packed and really peaceful and I just love the story so I guess that's why I enjoy the movie!

3. The Lion King- it's my favorite disney movie. I love it, I love it, I love it. They don't make movies like that anymore...sad. PS- Is JTT really gay now? Say it ain't so.

4. Mamma Mia- I love musicals and most of the ones made into movies just plain stink. But this one is so good! And....I can sing along and not feel self-conscious with everyone staring at me in the theatre :) PS- seeing James Bond singing S.O.S. just cracks me up every time. I know it's not supposed to be funny, but come on! He's James Bond! Not some hopeless romantic:)

5. The Sound of Music- this is my mom's favorite movie and therefore I watched it a lot growing up! It's a fairy-tale version of the real story (which is a good story in itself, so if you like this movie you should definitely get some info on the real Von Trapp family!) Again, I can sing along with this movie as well:) I think one of my favorite scenes is where the children sing a song and their father joins in....oh and also when Liesl sings " I am 16 going on 17...."

I can't wait to see what your favorite movies are and figure out which ones I need to see that I haven't yet! I'm going to get ready to go out tonight--and yes, there will be pictures from my camera this time!! :)

Happy Friday!

Thankful.

Today has been...well...let's just say I'm ready to go to bed! It wasn't a too terrible day- in fact, it wasn't really terrible at all. But there were a few things that were just really frustrating to me and some that hurt my feelings and sometimes that stuff just takes over my day. I know, I know, I shouldn't let that kind of stuff bother me! But unfortunately I was not given the ability to "let things go." I don't, however, want to bore you guys with the crummy things that happened today but I do need a pick-me-up of sorts. So, I thought I would write about a few of the things I'm thankful for. I find that sometimes helps me feel better:) Here goes:

1. I'm thankful for this little guy:

Words cannot express how much I love him:) He's an angel with fur!! He always has a sweet kiss for his momma and loves to sleep curled up next to me. He never ceases to brighten my day...even when he wakes me up in the middle of the night to go potty:)

2. I'm thankful for my wonderful friends.

I have no idea what I would do without them. They are always there for me and I could never express how much their friendship means to me!

3. I'm thankful for my family.

They have to love me forever:) They're stuck with me. And God really knew what He was doing when he let me into this family.

I'm thankful for a lot of other things as well, but I don't want to get too sentimental on you ;)

Leave me a comment and tell me what you're thankful for! I hope your Monday was a great start to your week:)

Time Flies!

What a weekend! David came in to town on Friday evening and we had a date night at Zapata's (you know...one of my favorite restaurants!!) Oh man, it was sooo good! It was so nice to sit down and talk to my boyfriend:) We don't get much time together when I'm off at school. I can't wait to move down there this summer and get to spend a lot more time with him!

Saturday, we got up bright and early to participate in the March of Dimes walk! When David and I got there, Vanessa and her Dave were already there and she looked at me sort of funny and held out her hand...and.... SHE'S ENGAGED!!!!! Ahh, I was (and am) sooooo happy for them! They are perfect for each other and I am just so thrilled for them. I can't wait for her to start planning wedding details!! :)
*Right after I found out V got engaged!! *

*The love birds:) Aren't they so cute?! I love them!*

The morning started off kind of rainy but turned into the perfect day! It was overcast, cool, and there was a slight breeze--so, like I said...it was perfect! We had so much fun, I really love my friends:)

*Our group on the walk! We're looking good!*

*We even found some time to do some hand-holding on our walk:) *

*I love these girls! *

*As promised, the backs of our shirts! I think we pretty much all messed ours up, haha!*

David and I had already decided that we were going to spend Saturday night together so after the race (and a nap!) we went to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner! We had proscuitto pasta and chocolate chip cookies for dessert! It was definitely yummy:)

Today we had a few errands to run and seeing as my grandparents always love to visit with David, we stopped by their house for an hour. The weekends always seem to go by too fast when I'm with my boy and next weekend I'll only get to see him Sunday evening!! :( Oh well, only 2 more weeks before I'm with him for good! It's going to be a great summer, if I do say so myself ;)

What did your weekends entail? Anything fun? :)

Friday 5's- Favorite Restaurants!

Yes. This is me jumping on the band wagon...again.

But I don't care. :)

This week's Friday 5's (you can find them at Just me and My Life!) are your favorite restaurants! So here we go!

1. My all-time-favorite-I-would-eat-there-everyday-if-I-could-restaurant is Nami! Nami is a japanese sushi restaurant in Anderson, SC. And oh my lordy it is to die for. I didn't like sushi before I started eating at Nami, but now when I go there, it's all I will get! They have amazing service and I literally go there every time I go to Clemson!

2. My second favorite restaurant is Zapata's. It's a mexican restaurant and they have the best chicken enchiladas I have ever tasted! Annnd they bring you two kinds of salsas with the chips! One that's kind of spicy and one that's more sweet, so you can choose which salsa to use that week (because, yes, I do go to Zapata's on a weekly basis.) I'm not ashamed to admit that.

3. I also love, love, love Nakato's. It's also a Japanese restaurant (are you sensing a pattern here??) This is one of those hibachi places and they have the BEST noodles and sauteed veggies around. They give you so much food, though, I never can eat it all! But it's okay, because David seems to finish it for me:)

4. I also really like Outback. I usually get either a salad or "the outback special" (8 ou. sirloin) which both probably have the same amount of million calories, but they are sooooo good. They also give you way too much food and I never finish here either. Their green beans are good too:)

5. Lastly, one of my other all-time favorite restaurants is in the kitchen of my grandmother's house!! She is the best cook I know and can throw together anything with any ingredients and it will taste phenomenal! And best of all, it's free!! :) *

*I know this doesn't really count as a restaurant, but I don't eat out much, so I'm making this one count:)

What are your favorite restaurants?!

So Proud!!

I'm so proud to be a Tiger right now!!! CJ Spiller:

went #9 in the NFL draft tonight!! Kiss it Tim Tebow! ;) (Sorry TT fans...) What a great day to be a Tiger:)

A few side notes:
1. a bunch of my nursing girls came over to make t-shirts tonight for the March of Dimes this weekend! I'll be taking pictures on Saturday so I can show y'all what they look like!

2. I went to Starbucks with my granddaddy this afternoon:) I always love our Starbucks dates. Then tonight I decided to go hang out at my grandparents house since I hadn't seen my grandmother in a while! I stayed for about 3 hours and it was so nice to spend time with them!

3. I don't have school tomorrow so I'm staying up tonight to watch "Young Victoria"--I love movies about princes and kings and queens. It came out Tuesday on dvd and my sweet momma got it for me!!! :)

Happy Friday, y'all!

No Work to Do? That's Shocking!

It's the last week of school for the semester. This time next year I will be preparing for graduation! (But I can't think that far ahead yet...) I usually babysit Mon-Wed. afternoon/evenings, but the family didn't need me today so after class I got to just come home! I really, really, really just wanted to take a nap, but D.A.R. has inspired me to start running--and I've been going strong for a little over a week now! I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but it definitely makes me feel good afterwards! After I got home from running, I caught up with my friend Jess and my mom and I went to eat mexican food!

*Lesson Learned: Don't eat mexican food right after running. I guess I should have known that but, well, I didn't:) It makes you feel all gross :( *

I got my stuff ready for school tomorrow and....ran out of things to do! I'm currently laying on the couch updating my blog, reading some magazines, and watching my crush (Evan Lysacek) on DWTS. Life is gooood. (By the way, in case you didn't understand from my last post, I have another crush--Joseph Leo Bwarie, although David will always be my #1 crush!)

Speaking of Joe, I've been have Jersey Boys withdrawal. Like I really wish I lived in a city where Jersey Boys played every day, because I would probably go see it every. single. day. And sadly, I'm not joking. Luckily though, I downloaded the soundtrack from iTunes and burned it to a cd yesterday and can you guess what I did on the way to school this morning?

Yes, I belted out all of the songs! Very loudly! At the top of my lungs! I'm fairly positive people were staring and I'm even more positive I made an officer laugh. It's okay because I think he knew I needed me Jersey Boys fix;)

Okay, I'm done embarrassing myself now, ha! I'm going to enjoy the rest of my evening and hit the hay early!! :) Happy Monday, guys!

Jersey Boys

Y'all, I'm in love. And I don't mean I'm joking in love. I mean I am in love. With Jersey Boys!! I love going to plays, but oh. my. gosh. This ranks up there as one of the best ones I have ever seen. And if you see it, you need to make sure Joseph Leo Bwarie plays Frankie Valli--otherwise you are missing out. And I'm serious about that.

My mom, aunt, cousin, and I went to see this yesterday and it was amazing. It's the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It goes through how each of the four group members "remembers" how everything went down with the group from beginning to end. It's just fabulous! I'm already trying to plan when and where I can go again!! :)

I couldn't find a clip of the play, but here is a little something from the Tony awards last year. Joe Bwarie is the first "Frankie", but let me tell you, this one clip doesn't do his voice justice! Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and if you get the chance, definitely go see Jersey Boys!

Happy Birthday, Vanessa!

Today was a great day! MY first class was an "online" day so we didn't have to go in until 1pm! I had a pharmacology test at 1 and was expecting to stay after for lecture, but unfortunately (or fortunately for me?) the professor was sick and let us all go after the exam! I feel bad he was sick, but was grateful for the day off:) But the best thing about today is that it is my good friend Vanessa's 22nd birthday! She is one of the sweetest, kindest girls I have ever known and she is a great friend! She is just beautiful inside and out and I am so lucky to be her friend! So today, after our test, our other friend Dev, surprised Vanessa with a cookie cake and our close group of girlfriends sang happy birthday to her! I don't think she was surprised (considering she rode to class with Dev...who had the cookie cake in her car!) but I know she loved it!

*V with her cookie cake, isn't she so cute?!*

It was such a beautiful day here and we didn't have class so we decided to walk over to little park nearby and sit out and eat cake and chat!

*Back row L to R: Kelly, Wai, and Dev! Front row L to R: Leslie, me, Whit, Kathleen, and V!*

It was so nice to just unwind and spend some time hanging out--without doing anything nursing related! When we left, I really felt like it was the weekend, ha! Which probably isn't a good thing since it's only Monday...

*What would a photo shoot be without a funny action shot, right??!*

I was very productive when I got home this evening and finished about 3 things on my list to do this week so I'm thankful for that! I hope you all had a great Monday and have a great week:)

Erin

P.S.- you know I'm bad at taking pictures...these aren't even mine, I stole them from Dev! Isn't that awful haha?! What can I say? :)

I Love the Weekends.

Hello all!

So far, it has been a very productive weekend! I've caught up on everyone's blog, got some schoolwork done, and had some fun in there somewhere too! Last night, a bunch of us nursing girls went out for a couple birthdays: Seana and Vanessa! We had a large group going (Vanessa's boyfriend took pictures of everyone with his nice camera, but they haven't uploaded their pictures, but as soon as they do, I'll deliver some...I'm sure you're eagerly awaiting them...ha!) and the birthday girls decided they wanted to go to Butter , a really nice gorgeous night club and we had so much fun! We met at Seana's for some pre-birthday fun and I got this great picture of me and David:

I just love this one:) Maybe because I don't see him enough! (Even though that will be changing in the near future...still sooo excited about my internship!)

The girls had a lot of fun at Butter! We danced and danced, and danced some more!

*Here we are at the club: Dev, Vanessa, and me!*
The three guys that went enjoyed getting to "hang out" and chat.
We had planned to go hiking today, but we were so exhausted from last night that we changed our minds--we decided to go shopping today instead:) I only got one thing, this beautiful dress!

Actually, David bought it for me. He is the one who picked this out for me! Isn't it pretty? I love when he picks out clothes for me because they are always gorgeous and he seems to know what will look good on me:) I love him so much!

Tomorrow, we have plans to go to lunch with David's cousin Russell and his fiance Jamie. Hopefully that works out because it would be so much fun! And my grandparents are coming back from being out of the country and my mom is picking them up tomorrow night--and I've decided to tag along in picking them up! Can't wait to see them:)

I hope you all are having a great weekend!

A Day for the Books!

This has been one heck of a day! And a good great one at that! I have to take you back about a month to explain, but it won't take long, I promise!

Around the middle of March I started trying to figure out what I was going to do this summer. One: I needed something paid. Two: I needed some nursing experience. I looked and looked for CNA jobs all around where I live and there was just nothing. It's kind of one of those "you have to know someone who knows someone" kind of situations around here and unfortunately I don't have that many hook-ups :) So I decided to look around where David lives and found a nurse extern program at one of the hospitals there and got my application ready and sent it in. It was a long shot, but I really had nothing to lose...and it was my only option at the time!

So, about a week later (my birthday, actually!) I got a "phone interview" call from the hospital. They asked me a few questions and said they would call me in a few days to let me know if I had been chosen to do an in-person interview with the hospital. Well...a few days later I got the call that I had been chosen, along with 60 other applicants (out of 120!) to come in for interviews. Oh. my. lordy. I was sooo nervous!

My interview was last Tuesday (the 30th) and when I left, I felt like I wouldn't have done anything different, which I was really proud of. There were 4 people who interviewed me and they each asked me 2 behavioral questions. Don't ask me what they were because everything in the interview is a complete blur now, ha! When I left they said, "We will let you know if you have been chosen for the internship between April 7th and 9th, but if you don't get it, don't feel bad, you made it this far and that's a great accomplishment!" Great! Now I feel really confident;)

So, after being a nervous wreck this whole week, I finally got a phone call this morning at 9:34 am and......

I GOT THE INTERNSHIP!!!!!

I am so excited! I'll get to live with David this summer and my internship fills both of my requirements! It's paid (yes!) and I'll be paired up with a nurse learning all the in's and out's we don't see during clinicals! I'm sorry I didn't tell you all earlier. I didn't even tell my own classmates until I got the call for an in-person interview! I think I was just worried that if everyone knew, I would totally jinx myself! And that would not have been good. But now you guys knows and can be excited with me:)

Other awesome news is that my sweet, sweet momma took me on a shopping trip today! She was feeling generous and bought me a lot of cute stuff from J. Crew. Unfortunately, the cute dress I got there isn't on the website??! So I can't post a picture until I take one in it!

I hope you guys have made it through this long post and have a great Friday tomorrow!!

100th Post!

Today is a big day! I've made it to my 100th post! Isn't that great?? I was going to do a give away (please don't hate me because I'm not...) like Katie did for her 100th post, but I have been so incredibly busy recently I haven't had time to plan anything! I know, I'm a slacker and I'm so sorry to disappoint you guys, because I'm so lucky that you all read my blog and have actually stuck around for 100 posts!

Soo, because I have no giveaway planned for this post, please be looking for one soon! I hope it will be worth it to you guys to keep on reading! Thank you so, so much for following my life:)

I'm in class today, nothing interesting going on. I have a test on Wednesday (surprise, surprise..when do I not have a test?) so I'll probably spend the next few nights studying for that. There are only 4 more weeks of school and then it is sweet, sweet summer! I can't wait!

How was Easter weekend for everyone? I didn't do anything but hang out with David:) It was definitely some much needed time spent together! The Easter bunny visited me as well, lots of candy (not so great for my figure, ha!), a starbucks card, and a coupon for the dvd "Young Victoria" when it comes in out in a couple weeks! Yay!

I hope you guys have a wonderful week:) Hopefully I'll have time to post more later this week! If not, at least I hope you guys will keep me entertained with your own stories!!

M.I.A.

I know, I've been M.I.A. again. I tend to do that often don't I? Life is my excuse this time. It's finally down to the last month of school and things have been hectic around here lately. All the projects and papers are beginning to be due and so extra work has started in order to get everything turned in on time. Honestly though, there hasn't been much going on to talk about!

* I did get inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Here is a picture of the people from my nursing class who also got inducted.

There were a lot of people from other classes who got inducted, but I think our class is the best! I guess I'm kind of partial though.

*I had my family birthday dinner...even though my birthday was 2 weeks ago! We had steaks, baked potatoes, and asparagus. It was so good! I love spending quality time with my family:)

That is really all that's been going on around here, aside from the piles and piles of school work! I have a test on Wednesday so I'm going to go study, but hopefully my days will calm down here soon enough and I can get back to blogging! Hope you guys have a great Easter weekend:)
