No School Tomorrow!

First things first, in clinicals on Thursday, I got to give my first ever immunizations to squirmy, crying children!! It was SO awesome! I think my God-given talent is that I'm really good with children and let me tell you, it was so awesome to be able to use my talent with these kids. Anyway! I left clinicals and booked it to David's because they were calling for a snow/ice storm. Well, the storm didn't roll in until Friday evening, and even then, we just got a bunch of ice and no snow! It definitely built up on the trees and grass, but the roads were okay. Back in Charlotte, however, the roads were all ice and no one was out driving. We were worried that I wouldn't make it home today for my test tomorrow! But, about 30 minutes ago, I found out that my classes are canceled for tomorrow! YEAH!

So this weekend was spent pretty much at home and I loved every minute of it. Thursday night I was exhausted so David watched tv and cleaned while I took a late afternoon nap. Friday night David was exhausted so I watched tv and cleaned while he took a late afternoon nap! It as great:) We woke up Saturday to all the ice and decided to stay inside in the warm! But there were a few kids down the street out sledding down their backyard hill:) Marley only weighs about 5 lbs. and could hardly walk on the ice! It was soooo cute, he kept sliding all over the place and the poor boy just couldn't find a good place to go potty! All of his sniffy spots were covered up by ice!

David did a lot of this:

* Boys and their video games! Marley was enjoying "daddy time"! *
And Marley did a lot of this:

* He's definitely a cuddler:) *

And on Saturday night, we went to a birthday party for one of David's work buddies, Keith. None of the pizza places were open so they went out and bought 11 pizzas. And when you send guys out to pick stuff up, they will always come back with something not on the list---and Saturday night it was a cheeseburger pizza that they proceeded to put pickles on top of!

* Obviously, it was really good...*

I didn't want to come home today, but then again, when do I ever like leaving David?! But good news is that I get to sleep in tomorrow and my test has been moved to another day. It was a great weekend and it looks like it's about to be a good week:)

I hope you guys have a Happy Monday!

Work, Work, Work, All Day Long!l

My "caught up" moment is now a glimmer in the past. Crazy right? How was I caught up yesterday and today I'm not? The truth is, I'm probably not behind. But I feel like it! I love to be ahead with my workload and so that's what I did today. I had maternity/peds today (funny side note: my friend Erin whispered to me today that the the "va-jay-jay" word was being used an uncomfortable amount today ha!) and class ended at 10:00am.

I hadn't seen my grandparents in a while so I went to their house and hung out with them for a while. They are probably the most awesome grandparents ever known to man. My grandmother wears a 20 lb. vest while she exercises and does core workouts and my grandfather runs 6 miles a day. I really wish I was that motivated! :) Anyway. I came home and guess what I did? I started reading for next week! I like to be ahead by at least a week in my reading so I have time to do actual school work during the week. Is that strange?

Luckily, I didn't have to go looking for procrastination because it came and found me! My granddaddy called and invited me to Starbucks:) We had a nice chat and it was just sooo good to see him for the second time today! Since I've been home, I've managed to read 6 chapters and pack my bag for tomorrow! I've got 4 more chapters to read for next week plus get a little more reading done in my Monique book, but I'd say I've accomplished quite a lot of reading tonight!

Tomorrow is clinical with the little ones again tomorrow...maybe I'll get to give another rectal temp? Or better yet, an immunization!! :) And then I'm heading back to see my boy. It'll be just us this weekend and I'm totally looking forward to that quality time;) And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will snow!! Hope you guys have a great night!!

Would You Believe....?

....that I am caught up on all of my nursing reading and work load??!! Thanks to a 2 hour start delay for my second class of the day, I got a lot of work accomplished! And now I can watch American Idol tonight without feeling guilty of procrastination;)

I had my first test of the semester today and I'm fairly positive I passed! I don't know about you, but I always breathe a sigh of relief when I finish with a test day. For some reason, no matter how prepared I am, I am still exhausted at the end of the day! I had to take a nap when I got home ha! One thing I think is worth pointing out is a book I have to read for my maternity class. It's called "Monique and the Mango Rains" and it's about this woman who is sent by the Peace Corps to work in Mali, West Africa to better a small village. She lives with the town's only midwife and the book chronicles her journey there. I literally just started the book today, but I already love it. I'll let you know how it goes and if I think you should read it (but I'm definitely already leaning towards you reading! ha!)

Tonight my mom had to go up to the school she teaches as for the science fair presentations so I tagged along. Oh my lordy I had completely forgotten how many children actually went to that school! It was crazy and completely unorganized. Parents and children were walking up and down these narrow aisles in between the tables and bumping and pushing into one another. They should sign me up to coordinate lines next year;) On the other hand, there were some pretty cool projects. I only did one science fair project growing up and it was on how fast different substances melted. Not very creative, right?! What kind of science fair projects did you do??

After the science fair, mom and I had dinner at Brixx Pizza. I don't know if you guys have Brixx where you live but oh. my. goodness. It's soooo thin and the pepperonis are sooo big. It's delicious, and the best part (aside from having millions of pizzas to choose from...) is that you can get wheat crust! I'm in love.

Anyway. American Idol and a cup of hot chocolate is calling my name:) Have a good night y'all!

Baby Butts and Jason Aldean!

Thursday I had my first clinical of the semester and it was great! I was at an OBGYN/Peds doctor's office that basically takes medicaide patients. I worked on the peds side on Thursday so I saw a lot of little babies and kids. I think the oldest child I saw was 6? Anyway, as for my title, I got to give my very first rectal temperature!! (Side note: I realize this is really not that exciting, but it's the little things right?!) The baby was about 6 months old and was just as happy as a lark! She smiled through the whole thing...much happier than if someone had stuck something up my butt :) Next week I'll be in peds again so I'm really looking forward to it!

I left clinicals on Thursday and headed straight for David's. We cooked tacos for dinner and watched Night at the Museum 2. It was a really cute movie! David went to work on Friday so I stayed home and did some reading and studying. (I have my first test on Tuesday!!) Friday evening David's parents, sister, and her boyfriend all came up to go to a concert! His parents are so awesome and got us all tickets to see Eric Church and Jason Aldean! I love love love Eric Church! (The very first concert David and I ever went to was an Eric Church concert at Clemson!) He always puts on a great concert and I really enjoyed seeing him! I'm not a huge Jason Aldean fan, like I don't own his c.d. or anything, but he put on a pretty good show as well! I was surprised at how many songs of his I actually knew so that made it more fun! David's parents have already gotten tickets for us for the Brad Paisley concert in March and I'm REALLY looking forward to that! David and I saw him in July and it rained through the whole concert! He put on an awesome show so I'm looking forward to seeing him again-- and staying dry this time!

Saturday was a lazy day. We went to IHOP for breakfast (yum!) and ran some errands. We watched Ocean's 13 and napped during the afternoon. For dinner, we all went to Cracker Barrel, which was delicious, and then everyone headed home. It has rained all day so it was a good day to lay around and watch tv! I spent the last few hours hanging out and being lazy with David before I had to head back for school tomorrow. It was such a fun weekend! Unfortunately I didn't get much studying done for my test....but it was totally worth it! :)

Have any of you seen Dear John? If you have, what did you think about it? I"m going to see it with one of my nursing girls and have heard different things! Have a great week!

Okay, I Love Friends, BUT.....

Y'all know by now how much I love the t.v. show Friends. So much so that all of my posts began with, "The One Where...", just like the names of each Friends episode. Unfortunately, since nursing school is back in full swing, the creative part of my brain has just lost it. All it's energy has been taken to use towards studying! So now you guys will just have to get used to "normal" blog titles...so... sorry! :)

Anyway, it's been a couple days since I've written, nothing new right? ;) This past weekend David came up! He got in on Friday around 6 pm and we ordered pizza and had a date night and watched "The Hangover." You've seen it right? We've seen it before, but we just laughed through the whole thing. Saturday we went out to dinner with some "couple" friends for mexican food and oh my goodness did it hit the spot! Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures (at all this weekend actually!) but it's okay because I was relaxing and enjoying myself:) Annnnnd Sunday, my old roommate and bff Jessie came up with Jake so we hung out pretty much all day. Jess and I cooked dinner (proscuitto pasta, yum!) and watched another movie. And Monday, well...we watched Star Wars episodes 1, 2, and 3 ha--obviously we like movies!

School has been keeping me busy with reading 25,000 chapters a day (okay, honestly it's just around 6 a day, but who's counting??!) and I suppose I should get to that. Happy 4 day week that's almost over! Fill me in on what you did over the long break?!

P.S.- Hey to my new blog follower Anna....who just so happens to be one of my other old roommates!!! :) That was an awesome surprise!

P.P.S.- Erin Burleson- if you're reading this-- Hey. :)

P.P.P.S.- in case you've missed seeing pictures of my baby...here is my ALL-TIME favorite picture of his cute self!

The One Where I Start Semester 2!

I started my second semester of nursing school today and I think it went pretty well! I had Health Informatics and Pharmacology today and I think they will be some good classes! I wasn't so excited about starting school again but I really enjoyed seeing all my great friends!

Mondays are long days so by the time I got home, I was exhausted! But I started p90x (yes, again) today and it KICKED. MY. BUTT. Ha! But I'm sooo looking forward to it...once I'm not sore anymore haha:)

Tomorrow I've got maternity/peds and mental health and I'm looking forward to both of those classes! I really think this is going to be a good semester:) Not to mention, I'm looking forward to 1) a SNOWSTORM since we haven't gotten one even though it's been 20 degrees and 2) warmer weather!! :)

I hope everyone had a great Monday! Good luck getting through Tuesday! (I find Tuesdays are the hardest days to get through ha!)

I hope everyone had a fabulous day! Tomorrow is my last day of break and Monday I go back to school. Sad. So I'm going to relax and enjoy tomorrow!

The One with the Small Update :)

Just a small update! I haven't posted anything in the last few days because...well, there really hasn't been anything to post! I just hung around the house while David went to work. I cleaned up the house a bit, took down christmas decorations, and took Marley on a few walks. He's a little tyke but he sure does love to walk! I think he'd walk forever if he could:) I also gave Marley a bath. He doesn't like it very much....I wonder why?!

*Isn't he the cutest rat you've ever seen?! This was actually when he was a puppy so just picture a little bit bigger rat with bigger ears stuck straight out sideways and that's what Marley looks like during bath time now:) *

I knew the great time David and I were having was going to come to an end, but I didn't realize how fast it would be here! I had to come back home yesterday evening to start getting things ready for school. I start on Monday and I want to try to get a jump start on my reading and such because I found last semester a lot easier when I was ahead;) But I've just been so bummed today because I miss my boy.

*I love him:) *

One thing that cheered me up though is my granddaddy called me and wanted to take me to Starbucks! That has been our "thing" for the last few years and now that I'm back home for a bit, we've made it a weekly thing! So getting to spend some time with him was just a lot of fun:) And tonight I'm going to my aunt's house for dinner! Her and my uncle have been raving about this corn on the cob that they grill out and they have invited me down to try it! I'll have to tell you how it is:) It will be nice to spend time with them because my cousin Amy is going back to school on Friday!

*Scott, Aunt Diane, Amy, and Uncle Mike...Scott has already gone back to school and Amy is heading there Friday! But dinner tonight is sure to be good!*

It's supposed to snow tonight, I sure hope it does because I'm tired of this freezing weather and no snow!! (While everywhere else is pounded with snow!!) And just for fun, I'm going to leave you with a picture of what I looked like at this time last year...but no laughing;)

*Christmas 2008...obviously there are not many of these ha! This was 2 weeks after my jaw surgery...I fit right in with the Who's from Who-ville!*

*And this is Christmas 2009! Killing two birds with one stone- no fat cheeks and displaying my new CHI straightener and sweat suit from J.Crew!*

Happy 2010!

The One with the New Year!

Happy 2010 Everyone! I hope you all had a great New Year's Eve! I know I did! David and I had some family and friends over to hang out and watch the ball drop. My cousin Scott and his girlfriend Kylie came up from Atlanta...

*Scott and Kylie...aren't they cute?*

and our good friend's Jake and Jess came down!

*Jake and Jess! They matched:)*

We all went to dinner at On the Border (which was DELISH!) and then made our way back to the house to party! We played some games (including guitar hero...haha!) and had a great time hanging out and spending time together. It seemed like the New Year came really fast and I can't believe that it's really 2010 already!

*Jess, Big Marley, and me hanging out in the kitchen...where else would we be??!*

*I love this boy! We had a great time hanging out with our friends:)*

Saturday, David and I went to dinner with Jake and Jess to spend some more time together! We used to see each other everyday but now that David and I have graduated, we don't see them near enough. We got some sushi and came back to the house to watch Inglorious Basterds. Have any of you seen that movie? I thought it was a great movie! It was kind of gory, but not too much and just really well put together. So if you haven't seen it, you should!

*All of us outside the restaurant, it was freezing!!*

Today I'm in the house by myself. David went back to work today. I'm heading back to school on Wednesday evening to start my 2nd semester of nursing school (which I am really looking forward to!) I suppose I'll start putting christmas decorations away, although that thought really bums me out ha! If you have to go back to work today then good luck! If you still have a few more lazy days, then enjoy them! Stay warm!
