Um...Yeah.

Remember me? I'm your blog friend who used to have all the time in the world (not really.) to blog about the ever-so-boring details of my relaxing summer life. I realize I haven't been around much recently due to my incredible school load plus all of the tutoring I'm doing. (Which, ps, I was supposed to tutor this guy today for maternity...and he never showed up. How lame and such a waste of my time! At least I got paid for it!) But lucky for me, some of you out there still seem to care and Carolina at A Life of Color showed me so by picking me to be one of her lucky passers-on for a blog questionnaire! Thanks, Caroline!! :) Here are the questions she asked me as well as my answers!

1. What is your favorite piece of jewelry you own?
My favorite piece of jewelry is probably my graduation from Clemson ring. It's not the typical graduation ring. I didn't get one from Clemson and my graduation gift from David was this beautiful diamond-surrounded ORANGE sapphire!

2. What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?
Some people don't know this about me and I'm not sure I've ever spilled the beans on my blog before, but my freshman year I attended UNC-Wilmington. I really enjoyed it, but my heart has always been at Clemson. One day, literally just one day, I had decided to take a nap and woke up and said to myself, "I want to go to Clemson." So I did. It was gutsy, I didn't know if I would get in and I only knew one other person who went there. But I applied that day and voila! A few months later, I got my acceptance letter and I might have cried a little bit.

3. Favorite color?
I don't have just one favorite color...I have three! And I bet you all could name all three of them if you've followed my blog long enough! :) Orange, purple, and pink!

4. In your opinion, what makes a great first date?
This---->
Mainly because it was our first date! We went to Longhorn's and that's about a 20 minute drive from Clemson. Y'all, I knew he was into me because he listened to me sing the whole way to the restaurant! And then, when we pulled into the parking lot, Taylor Swift's "Tim McGraw" came on and he literally sat there with me while I finished singing it. I'm a loser, what can I say? Ha! But we had a great dinner and the beginning of a wonderful 3 1/2 years! :) So, my answer is, any date that can let you be yourself.

5. Your biggest pet peeve?
Okay guys, don't hate me and please don't be offended! I mean nothing by what I'm about to say! My biggest pet peeve is when people make grammatical mistakes. I am by no means an English major (but my grandma is!) but it really irritates me! Here is the lesson for the day: Y'all is not really a contraction--however, in the South, we pretend it is. So, if you're going to use it, spell it correctly! It is not ya'll with the apostrophe after the "a". You + all = y'all. Also, "a lot" is 2 words, not one. It's "a lot" , not "alot"--kapeesh? Seriously, please don't hate me.

6. Favorite dessert?
Um...hello- a big 'ole hunk of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting!
Yum!!

7. Dream car?
I am so not a car person, haha! I don't know anything about cars at all. And all I can say is I would be a lost cause if my car broke down on the side of the road! But, since David works at BMW, I have my eye set on one of these--with all the hook ups of course! ;)

8. Favorite toy as a child?
How silly is this going to sound? I loved my babydolls when I was little bitty, but as I got older I loved to play school. My mom is a teacher and would bring me home all of her leftover worksheets and I would "teach" school to all of my babies. By far, my favorite teacher job was writing on the white board. Yes, I did have a white board with ALL of the marker colors! To this day, if I go to my mom's classroom, I have to write on the white board. It's just fun, ha!

Okay...I'm sure y'all have had enough of me for one night! My questions are:

1. What is your favorite movie?

2. Who in your life inspires you the most?

3. Favorite sport?

4. Okay, c'mon, spill it! Favorite blog to read?

5. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

6. Favorite meal?

7. What part of the day do you enjoy the most?

8. What's something most people don't know about you?

And I'm choosing the following people to play along!

Enjoy! Can't wait to read your answers! Everyone have a wonderful weekend :)

Misc. Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. It is wayyy too early to be blogging. What am I thinking?

2. I have my very first med-surg test tomorrow. I am F.R.E.A.K.I.N.G. O.U.T. I studied for about 5 hours last night and I've got a good chunk of the afternoon and evening devoted to studying tonight. Oh, help me.

3. God's mercies are new every morning! I, for one, am so thankful for that!

4. On Friday, I went with my friend Erin to pick up her new baby puppy! She got him from the same lady I got Marley at! (if you're looking for a yorkiepoo, visit Nancy! She's the best!) And actually Marley and Cooper are half brothers! They share the same daddy!

Here's Marley...

And here's Cooper! What do you think?? I think they look like twins ;) Ha!

5. It's starting to get cooler here :) The leaves have started falling off the tree--but I'm not sure if that's because fall is actually right around the corner, or if they are just dead from the heat and lack of water...??
*This is not what it looks like outside my house...but it's a nice thought, right?!

6. That's all she wrote, folks. I have 15 minutes before I have to leave for class and I've still got to dry my hair! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday :)

9/11

I'm PROUD to be an American. I've never forgotten and I never will. God bless those who lost their lives, the families who are still coping, and our troops who are still fighting for our freedom.

Remember...

Remember that big post I promised all about this past weekend and how much fun it was going to be? And all the pictures I was going to take?

Well, that's not this post. I have so many fabulous pictures from this weekend (which was awesome by the way!) but I left my camera at the lake. I have no idea (maybe a little bit of an idea....) how that happened?? It's not like we went out on the boat or anything and I left my camera sitting on the table when we came back in...it's not like I didn't put it back where it belongs like I should have...

Anyway, the long-awaited post that I know you all are just dying to read is going to be postponed until I have all the pictures! It just wouldn't be the same--I even have a couple videos to share with you :) David's grandfather now has my camera at his house and David's going to go get it some time this week and I'm going to meet him half way later to get it.

I'm a little down tonight. I don't want to go into details because who wants to be bored with the negative things in life, right? :) But sometimes life just does not go like you want it to and there's definitely things going on in life right now that aren't how I'd like them to be. I know God's plan is the plan my life will follow, but every once in a while I'd love it if He would give me a little glimpse into the future so I could stop worrying so much about it! But I guess that's the point, right? To trust Him...and surely His plan is a thousand times better than any plan I could come up with for my life. :)

Anyway, what was your favorite part of this weekend? Leave me a comment, it would definitely cheer me up to hear about all the fun you all had this weekend! :) Oh, and happy 4 day week!

Brain Dead..aka Too Much Nursing!

Oh. my. stars. I have got to take a break from all my nursing work for a few! Somehow, even though I worked in a hospital all summer long, I forgot about the incredible work load waiting for me this semester! My brain has yet to catch up to what is going on! I have so many chapters to read and I am F.R.E.A.K.I.N.G. O.U.T about med-surg this semester. Here's a little dish on med-surg: I have already learned everything I need to know for this class. It's all A&P, pharmacology, and fundamentals. This is the class where all the puzzle pieces come together. So why should I freak out? Because the majority of the NCLEX questions (the test I have to take to get my RN license!) are med-surg questions. I have to know this stuff and I'm already stressing about it. My test isn't even until May! Not to mention, they want me to tutor people in this stuff! How in the world am I going to pull that off, haha?!

I'm sure things will settle down and I will get into a routine like I always do, but man, this is just intense anxiety :)

On a good note, though, I was back in scrubs today :) It was our first clinical session of the semester and it was just the PSL (patient simulation lab) so nothing spectacular, but it felt good to be in my "uniform" again. I do know that once we get into the hospital, I'll be working on the floor with all of the kidney and liver transplant people. These are pretty much some of the sickest people out there and I am so excited that I get to work on this floor! I was so nervous that I was going to be bored this semester after everything I did this summer, but I think this will be a real challenge and I'll learn a lot- yeah for that!

Just in case anyone was wondering, my training/running has been going really well. I haven't had to force myself to get up in the mornings to go run (probably due to the fact that the slightest hint of fall has shown it's cool face at 7 in the morning here!) and while I'm not quite enjoying the run itself, I feel great afterwards. In honor of that, my granddaddy (love that man.) took me shopping today for some new running clothes!

I love the blue!

This pink outfit is my favorite!! I have a four mile run tomorrow morning and I can't wait to wear this outfit :)

I also finished my first ever knitted baby hat. I think it turned out okay!

I love the color. I did this on a loom and I like the way it turned out, but I'd really like to learn how to knit hats with circular needles. I don't have much time right now so I guess I'll have to hold off on that goal, but for now, I think these are cute! :)

My mom and I went shopping at Target the other day (I really could spend hours there, I just love that store.) and I got Marley a little something....

Isn't he going to be the cutest little skeleton you've ever seen?!! Oh my gosh, he is just so adorable and even though it makes him walk funny, I'm going to make him wear it on halloween ;)

As I mentioned in my last post, this weekend is Clemson's first football game of the season! What kind of fan would I be if I wasn't there for it?! So that is where I'll be Saturday, decked out in orange and cheering on my tigers. David and I are planning to go to the lake after the game and spend the rest of labor day weekend with his family. They don't have internet up there so no posts from me until I get back! What kind of fun plans to you all have for labor day?? I'd love to live vicariously through all of your adventures this weekend:) Make sure to post them!

I hope everyone has a happy (and safe! What can I say...it's the nurse in me ;) ) holiday weekend!

Where oh Where...

...have I been?! I guess you all can tell nursing school is back in full force because I went from blogging pretty much every day to not so much...ever. It's so unfortunate that school takes up so much of my time but I do get on here and read up on what you all have been up to! Sometimes if I have time I even leave a few messages haha!

Honestly though, you guys have not missed much of anything in my life! Let's see, I've read some chapters in my nursing books, finished one assignment for a class, gone to 2 tutoring sessions and no one showed up (yay for getting paid to do nothing!!) and that about sums it up :)

OH! I finally got my dress for the wedding! I got phone calls from about 5 different people and 2 dresses actually showed up at my house! (One of which, I shudder to even think about...picks ALL over it and a stain!) But the other dress is perfect so I quickly hung it up in my winter closet where it absolutely cannot get dirty or picked. But I'm glad that fiasco is finally over with :)

I, somehow, have found a little time to make a few more pillowcases (are y'all bored of those yet? ha!) and I'm also in the middle of knitting a baby hat, so we'll see how that actually turns out ;)

Are you all planning to watch the CMA's tonight?! This post has been really random and I'm so sorry! My brain is still trying to transition back to nursing school mode, but hopefully I'll have some great posts for you soon. I mean, Clemson football starts up this weekend so how can there not be a good post about this upcoming weekend?!! :) Also, if you all have a minute, go check out Heather's blog. She's my newest blog friend and she's cute as a button! Can't wait to get to know you, Heather!
