Craft Complete!

Blah! Being sick is no fun at all! But I'm feeling better now so all's well here:) So well in fact, that I finished my craft I told you about in a blog post a few days ago! You guys had some GREAT guesses, but no one guessed right!

I am not talented enough yet to make an apron! Ha! But thanks for thinking I might know enough to make one ;)

Here is the final product!

What do you think?? It definitely isn't perfect, but I don't think the flaws are that noticeable, I like it!

I hope you guys have a great Wednesday! :)

Tis the Season :)

Christmas is in exactly 5 months. The countdown is officially down to one hand:) I can't wait, christmas is my favorite time of the year and if you know me, then you know that's true! I start listening to Christmas music...well, in July! (And actually, I have a christmas c.d. in my car now and was listening to some Pandora Christmas music yesterday...I love pandora!)

Unfortunately, I started feeling bad yesterday and today has just not been fun. I think I have a 24 hour bug or something so needless to say, my crafts have been put on hold until I feel better.

But, because I'm feeling the christmas spirit, I'm curled up on the couch watching Elf :) Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Crafty Me!

I've been feeling pretty crafty lately. Don't ask me why because I don't know! My mom is pretty crafty so I guess you could say it's in my blood, but who really knows. Anyway, I wanted to do something nice for my nursing preceptor from my internship this summer and I decided to make button badges! Here are the ones I made for her:

And here are the ones I made for me!

I secure mine with velcro so that I can change them depending on the season! I really like the black, white, and pink one and the denim and pink one! I can't wait to get some more holiday fabric! :)

Today, Susan and I met David for lunch at Chik-fil-a (yay for lunch tomorrow! I always eat half of a caesar wrap and keep the other half for work!) and then we just hung out at home for most of the afternoon. Since she's going into her first year of teaching, she spent most of her time working on morning greetings and I did some reading for this upcoming semester! We ended up going to Wal-Mart for school supplies and Hobby Lobby for some fabric for me:)

I've really started wanting to be more crafty lately and I figure...once I graduate and get a job, I'm only going to be working 3 days a week--what am I going to do with 4 days off? Crafts! So, David's grandma is letting me have her old sewing machine, which we are picking up on Saturday, and I am going to begin learning how to sew! Anyone have any tips??? I've never done any sewing before so this is all new to me, any tips will be greatly appreciated!!

I did get some cute fabric because I've already planned my first, easy project for this weekend. I'm not going to tell you what it is, but I'll give you a sneak peak of what I'm using for it! :)

Do you like it?! I hope it turns out okay, haha! I'm very likely to mess it up...so wish me luck!

I have to work again tomorrow and Susan is heading back home so all of the fun is over for the week :( But I hope you all have a wonderful ending to your weekend!

Busy Life :)

The past few days have been very busy! Sunday night, David and I went to dinner with Jess and Jake.
We went to a place called California Dreaming and I got blackened chicken with alfredo pasta and it was just as good for lunch on Monday as it was Sunday night! After we got back, Susan (David's sister) came in to town to visit for a few days. I worked on Monday and was pretty pooped Monday night. Susan and I went to David's BMW soccer game and got to chat while he scored all 4 goals for his team. He's a beast--what can I say:)
He had to work today so Susan and I went to the mall! Neither of us has much money, but we had fun hanging out anyway:) But we always do....
I did get a few things though! I got a really cute shirt from Banana Republic that was on sale! It's this shirt--in black, but I think it looks cuter on me haha!
I also got a cute sweater from J. Crew
plus 2 new headbands that were both on sale! I figure that since I'll only ever be wearing scrubs, the way I'm going to look cute is by accessorizing my hair ;) Ha! I can't find any pictures of my headbands but don't worry, I promise they're cute!!

And last but definitely not least, today is my baby boy's birthday!! Marley is two today!
My sweet angel has had a great year! He is old enough now to stay out in the house by himself without getting into trouble, and he is a wonderful big brother:) He still loves to sleep right next to me and he loves giving kisses! I love you sweet puppy boy!! :)

Hope you guys have a wonderful hump day tomorrow!

That's Shocking!

Today was my first ever Saturday work day! It felt just like a normal workday for the most part, probably because I didn't work Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday this past week! ;) But, it was such a long day. For some reason the time just seemed to stand still...and on top of that, we were SO busy! I was working in the chest pain center so we had a lot of...well...chest pain! One actual heart attack, a homeless man with a weapon in his knapsack (yes, I took it away from him...how he got in with it...EMS let it slip by.), and the most exciting of all--an a-fib!!

Atrial fibrillation is basically an abnormal heart rhythm. Instead of coordinated pumping, the atria "quiver" leading to abnormal beats from the ventricles. Unfortunately for this patient, in order to get him back to a normal rhythm, we had to shock him into it! This was my first "shock" to see and it was really cool. They consciously sedated him and then pressed the button and.....he shot out of the bed--AWESOME. He was fine and thanks to the sedation, didn't remember anything, but as he came off the bed during the shock, his O2 probe shot off like a rocket!

It was a long day, but a good one:) And now I'm about to eat dinner with my boy and we are going to see Eclipse! I've heard it's good, have any of you seen it??! I'll let you know my verdict;)

Hodge Podge!

...And some pictures to boot! I have so many stories I haven't told recently (from my blogging blunder...where I didn't post for like 3 weeks...woops...) and I have a few pictures so I just thought I'd post a picture and tell the story. The short version, that way you get the story and I hopefully will be back on track with my blogging :)

Story #1:

Jovie had to get her kitty shots the Friday of July 4th weekend. Jessie's mom is a vet and has been so awesome in helping us out with everything for her. We are getting major discounts for everything...thanks Mrs. Nancy! We love you! :) Anyway, Jovie had to get blood taken and, not unlike humans, it took a little pressure to stop the bleeding. The red bandage is called a "pressure wrap" and it stayed on for a max of like 5 minutes. However, the moment David picked her up she was acting like she couldn't believe we would do this to her and would NOT use her paw! It was too hysterical for me to pass up a picture!

Notice the gimpy eye in this picture...she's such a drama queen--just like her momma! ;)

Story #2:

You know Marley loves his boat rides :) This was July 4th weekend and we were tubing (as you can see Scott is doing in the background....) And Marley's face just kills me in this picture! He's obviously had enough. And yes, he has a shirt on and it says, "Little Sparkler". I just love my boy.

Story #3:

For the fourth, Kylie and Scott came to the lake to play with us! We innertubed, played on the jetski, and innertubed some more. For some reason, it took a lot of coaxing to get Kylie and Scott to innertube together. I guess they were scared we might purposely throw them off? But we wouldn't do that, would we? ;) So, here is actual proof that they did indeed innertube together and they held on until the end. I love Kylie's face in this picture, but I know for a fact that she would hate it if she knew it was on here...good thing she doesn't read my blog! (To my knowledge..)

Story #4:

I'm particularly proud of this one:) I learned how to ski this past weekend! I learned to ski in the same cove that David's dad learned to ski in years ago. I know I look a little goofy, but hey...I'm still learning:) I was definitely proud of myself, but I didn't get here without many falls and lots of bruises! Ha!

Story #5:

This isn't really a story, but you know I couldn't pass this picture up! My two sweet babies after the weekend at the lake. They were pooped! But oh my goodness do they love each other:) Butt buddies!!

TGIF to all of you who don't work tomorrow, but unfortunately I do! Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend:)

Happy Birthday to the sweetest cousin in the world!! :)

*Amy and her boyfriend Tyler...who is taking her skydiving for her birthday! OMG!!*

Mid-Week Trip

Well I was all prepared to post pictures and talk about July 4th and the family weekend we had this past weekend, but I left my camera at home! I decided to come visit my mom for a few days and get a few things done here and I packed my laptop and the USB cord to connect my camera and I left the dang thing behind! Woops!

Anyway, nothing new going on here. I had my first week working in the ER last week and it was interesting to say the least! I'm not sure I'd want to work there forever though. I worked yesterday and don't work again until Friday so I decided to visit my mom, family, and friends for a few days. What are you guys up to this week?

I'm going to go spend some time with my momma:) Have a great week!

P.S.- I told you guys my babies missed me while I was at the beach:)

I Have Run Out...

....of excuses on why I can't blog today. I know, I know...I haven't blogged in weeks but to be completely honest, I just haven't been feeling it. I don't feel like my life is that exciting in the day-to-day and I know it would just bore y'all to death! I find your lives much more exciting to read about ha! But I'm trying to get back in to the swing of things here so bear with me! :)

I told you in my last (short) post that David and I went to the beach a couple weeks ago so I'll make that the topic of my post today. David's family has, for the last few years, planned a beach trip to St. Simon's Island in Georgia. His mom's side of the family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all go and spend a week together. It's really fun and always relaxing! I had to take one whole week of vacation off for my internship so this is the week I took. David wasn't going to be able to come until Tuesday so on Friday, I picked up David's grandfather and headed for Athens.
*David's grandfather, Poppa. Isn't he so cute?!*

I spent the night at David's parents house and we set off bright and early Saturday morning for the beach! It is normally about a 5 hour drive, but it took us 7 hours because we kept having to stop for his grandfather...it was a loonnng trip down, ha!

*David's parents, don't they make a great couple?*

Most of the days were spent out on the beach. I don't know about you but when I go to the beach...I like to stay on the beach! Unless it's raining, I want to be outside getting some sun. And would you believe it didn't rain one time while we were there? How lucky is that?! We brought a huge cover to sit under, although I didn't sit under it much:) For the first few days, David's sister and I shared a room and got a whole lot closer, which I loved. We don't get to see it other much, so it was some great bonding time!

*Me and Susan! This is one picture out of a photo shoot ha!*

David arrived on Tuesday night and it was so good to see him! I'm definitely getting spoiled this summer seeing him everyday ;). We liked taking chairs down to the waters edge and just sitting there and relaxing! David's cousin Andrew and his girlfriend Katye were there with us.

*Andrew and Katye...I just think Katye is so pretty!*

Andrew is a big outdoorsman and loves fishing. He would fish all morning and catch all kinds of fish and sharks- I loved sitting down by the water and watching it all!

*Andrew and a baby shark he caught!*

The water was unbelievably warm, it was ridiculous! It was so hot there and even going to put your feet in the water didn't cool you off at all! It literally felt like bath water, and in some areas where the water is pretty stationary, it actually could burn your feet! You had to literally go at least waist deep before you got any relief from the hot water, ha! That was just too crazy to me:) David and I searched for sand dollars and we now have about 2 dozen of them bleaching (naturally!) in the sun right now! We are starting to work on setting up the rooms in our house and want to make a "beach" themed bathroom downstairs. We want to use the sand dollars and create some pretty decor to hang on the wall. I don't know quite yet how we will do it, but once it's finished, I'll definitely post pictures!

*Love my boy :)*

The beach was so much fun and I wish I was back there now! But I thoroughly enjoyed seeing my babies when I got home and I think they were excited to see me too :)

*Notice that my bag isn't even unpacked yet! They obviously didn't want me to leave again! *

Mom kept them and had bought Jovie a new play house which she just adores. It is so cute to watch her play! Anyway, I guess I should call it quits on this long post! Hope you guys had a great day :)

I'm Still Here :)

Thanks to those of you who were worried about not hearing from me in a while:) I'm still here! I guess I've taken a surprise hiatus from blogging for a few weeks. Work was consuming me, I was so exhausted! Then I was on vacation for a week! I'll post about that later!! I start a new work rotation on Monday so hopefully I'll have more time to blog. But I have been keeping up with everything you all are doing, sorry I haven't been a great blogger lately. I am headed to the lake for the 4th of July, what are you all doing? I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend! Hopefully I'll be back soon:)
