Brain Dead..aka Too Much Nursing!

Oh. my. stars. I have got to take a break from all my nursing work for a few! Somehow, even though I worked in a hospital all summer long, I forgot about the incredible work load waiting for me this semester! My brain has yet to catch up to what is going on! I have so many chapters to read and I am F.R.E.A.K.I.N.G. O.U.T about med-surg this semester. Here's a little dish on med-surg: I have already learned everything I need to know for this class. It's all A&P, pharmacology, and fundamentals. This is the class where all the puzzle pieces come together. So why should I freak out? Because the majority of the NCLEX questions (the test I have to take to get my RN license!) are med-surg questions. I have to know this stuff and I'm already stressing about it. My test isn't even until May! Not to mention, they want me to tutor people in this stuff! How in the world am I going to pull that off, haha?!

I'm sure things will settle down and I will get into a routine like I always do, but man, this is just intense anxiety :)

On a good note, though, I was back in scrubs today :) It was our first clinical session of the semester and it was just the PSL (patient simulation lab) so nothing spectacular, but it felt good to be in my "uniform" again. I do know that once we get into the hospital, I'll be working on the floor with all of the kidney and liver transplant people. These are pretty much some of the sickest people out there and I am so excited that I get to work on this floor! I was so nervous that I was going to be bored this semester after everything I did this summer, but I think this will be a real challenge and I'll learn a lot- yeah for that!

Just in case anyone was wondering, my training/running has been going really well. I haven't had to force myself to get up in the mornings to go run (probably due to the fact that the slightest hint of fall has shown it's cool face at 7 in the morning here!) and while I'm not quite enjoying the run itself, I feel great afterwards. In honor of that, my granddaddy (love that man.) took me shopping today for some new running clothes!

I love the blue!

This pink outfit is my favorite!! I have a four mile run tomorrow morning and I can't wait to wear this outfit :)

I also finished my first ever knitted baby hat. I think it turned out okay!

I love the color. I did this on a loom and I like the way it turned out, but I'd really like to learn how to knit hats with circular needles. I don't have much time right now so I guess I'll have to hold off on that goal, but for now, I think these are cute! :)

My mom and I went shopping at Target the other day (I really could spend hours there, I just love that store.) and I got Marley a little something....

Isn't he going to be the cutest little skeleton you've ever seen?!! Oh my gosh, he is just so adorable and even though it makes him walk funny, I'm going to make him wear it on halloween ;)

As I mentioned in my last post, this weekend is Clemson's first football game of the season! What kind of fan would I be if I wasn't there for it?! So that is where I'll be Saturday, decked out in orange and cheering on my tigers. David and I are planning to go to the lake after the game and spend the rest of labor day weekend with his family. They don't have internet up there so no posts from me until I get back! What kind of fun plans to you all have for labor day?? I'd love to live vicariously through all of your adventures this weekend:) Make sure to post them!

I hope everyone has a happy (and safe! What can I say...it's the nurse in me ;) ) holiday weekend!

Don't stress...you've got this. My foundations 2, adult health, and leadership rotations (all Med Surg) were on the kidney/liver txp floor. So I spent a good 3/4 year on that floor.....and my future FIL had his first liver txp a year ago yesterday & is on the wait list for round 2 because #1 isn't working out too well. Just know you will survive & do great!
